April 2005 - A message from Bill Hart, Executive Director of the Arizona Sexual Assault Network (AzSAN), about his first few months as director.
April 2005 - Jennifer Rauhouse, Hilary Cummings and the staff and students of Peer Solutions Incorporated provide us with an overview of one of their programs. The materials are available in three sections covering:1) An Overview of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) with related handouts (17 pages), 2) Information and Handouts about SAAM Especially for Students (18 pages), and 3) A Legal and Medical Overview with further Resources (11 pages).
May 2005 - Rosita M. Charles of the Ama Doo Alchini Bighan, Inc Sexual Assault Prevention Program discusses the Navajo philosophy related to separation of the sexes and shows us how the equality wheel looks at human relationships of all kinds, to promote respect and spiritual reflection.
June 2005 - The University of Arizona provides information about the increasing availability of research on sexual and domestic violence in LGBT populations.
July 2005 - The Southern Arizona Center Against Sexual Assault offers some useful activities for assisting youth to develop critical thinking skills related to dating and sexual violence.
August 2005 - CASA (the Center for the Prevention of Abuse and Violence) provides us with humorous yet instructive insights related to talking with parents about sexual violence.
September 2005 - Lori B. Girshick from the Wingspan Anti-Violence Project defines different gender identity categories and discusses the risks and consequences associated with sexual victimization among transgender people.
October 2005 - This month we have a description of the innovative Home Safe Violence Prevention and Advocacy Program offered by the Wellness and Health Promotion Department at the Arizona State University. Please take a look to find out about their current services, resources, and events!
November 2005 - Kris Stark and Megan Souter describe the Peer Education through Arts and Creative Expression (P.E.A.C.E.) Project offered by the Northland Family Help Center. It is an innovative project that consists of a traveling theater troupe of high school students that develops and performs original pieces focused on domestic and relationship violence issues.
December 2005 - Julie Cheetham from Horizon Human Services shares her thoughts and experiences with the Annual Teen Maze. The Teen Maze is an interactive educational event designed to teach youth about the consequences of teen sex and responsible decision-making.
