December 2004 - This month Karen Wanjico of Horizon Human Services shares her thoughts about preventing sexual and interpersonal violence.
November 2004 - This month Karen Cheman of the University of Arizona, Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health shares her experience as a rape crisis advocate in this timely article. Please take a moment to read "The Importance of Self-Care: A Paradigm Shift".
October 2004 - This month Karen Moses of Arizona State University provides us with information about the newly established Home Safe Violence Prevention and Advocacy Center. Congratulations on this accomplishment!
September 2004 - This month Miriam Dror, M.A. a Community Educator at Northland Family Help Center provides us with an overview of a program that uses the expressive arts as an educational tool, for working with Native American youth. The article concludes with some powerful poems created by program participants.
August 2004 - This month Rosita Charles of Ama Doo Alchini Inc. (ADABI) in Chinle Arizona provides us an introduction to their program as well as an overview of sexual violence occurring within the Navajo Reservations. She concludes by reviewing of the services that ADABI provides.
July 2004 - The Southern Arizona Center Against Sexual Assault provides a timely overview of rape myths. In this article by Alba Jaramillo, how rape myths may discourage reporting and help seeking behaviors is explained.
June 2004 - Lori B. Girshick, Coordinator, Wingspan Anti-Violence Project discusses the unique problems associated with woman to woman sexual violence. In her article she also outlines program needs and makes outreach recommendations. The article concludes with reference citations for further reading.
May 2004 - Raymond from CASA, Center for the Prevention of Abuse and Violence describes his experience providing information on rape prevention education working to junior and senior high school students.
April 2004 - April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Peer Solutions Incorporated has produced a calendar of Awareness Month activities for the Phoenix area.
March 2004 - OUR TOWN Family Center utilizes theater as the vehicle to educate, inform, and present the issues of date rape prevention education and sexual assault. Adolescent youth and young adults perform original productions. This handout describes how their program describes sexual harrassment in schools.
February 2004 - Sean Wenham from Mt. Graham Safe House starts the year with an article describing a Rave simulation exercise introduced at the 2003 Graham County teen fair. Also added are the cards used during this exercise:
